Hi Friends,
Do any of you do this? Yesterday was T-ball practice. UGH! I am so sore today I can hardly move. I was the only mom out there with all the dads - and I ran bases with my son, helped him learn to swing, cheered the whole team on, while the moms watched and the dads played. My choice!
I am in decent shape, or at least I thought I was. I didn't feel near so old or frumpy as I was afraid I would. But OMG I can hardly move today.
Is this because I am OLD? Do I do this to prove somehow that I am as good or better than young moms?
I do have a "cheering" personality.:banana: I am the one who claps, sings, dances when my son does something awesome (which, of course, is every day). That is nothing new about me. I also have an active personality. I am one who is a go-getter whether it be at work, home, or play. So this is not too far off of my normal personality.
BUT - still... I wonder. Am I trying to prove something? Or am I just feeling my age? Or would the younger mothers have been sore today too if they had been out there?
Do any of you do this? Is this crazy and silly?
There's nothing strange about feeling sore if you're using muscles you haven't used much in a while.
Aside from that, I recommend that you be yourself and not worry too much about whether or not you're being "crazy" or "silly." I have a hunch the crazy and silly people of the world enjoy life a little more than the average Joe.

Hi ChristieS..... I am right there with you! I brought my DD home (from Russia at the age of 8 - 2 years ago), and I was 42 y/o. She had never played organized sports, and wanted to do soccer. She was only home fo 3 months, and still didn't understand english well, so I coached her township soccer team. I felt the same way. I was the "tom-boy" all the way thru school, and played on adult leagues for softball, volley ball, and tennis teams up til 4 years ago. So, when it came time to run the soccer field, the next several days, I was in major pain. When you do not use these muscle groups for a period of time, they are going to be sore. I then again coached her Fall soccer team, and was not sore. But when I started coaching her USTA Junior Tennis Team, I was sore ALL over again.... different muscle groups :)
Be yourself, enjoy your SON, and do what you and your son want!!! This also added to our 'bonding' and 'attachment'. It was soooo worth every ach and pain!
At the risk of being blasted...I will tell you my theory...we appreciate our children more. Not that younger parents don't appreciate their children...but how many parents who had their children young do you know that are counting down the days until they are out of the house? I relish in every moment of them...good and not so good!
Granted mine are little yet, but you can bet that I will be just like you! I waited too long and went thru too much to sit on the sidelines!
