We adopted our dd, m, at 15 mos. She arrived a biter, hitter, pusher. She's now 2 1/2. Until today, she's only done it at home to her sisters. Today at "school" she bit another child for the first time. Any suggestions for extinguishing this behaviour? We've tried redirecting, comforting (of course) and giving lavish attention to the bitten, explaining that biting hurts, her older sister has bit her back (no, not with our permission), reminding that teeth are for food not for people, etc. but it just never seems to go away. I realize biting is not unusual at this age but I thought by now it would be better. I'll hear any advice. Thanks!

My child is a biter too so I don't have any answers for you but I do have a ((hug)) .. Cause I understand what you are going through. Some suggestions I have been given.

Is to give them something to bite on ( wash cloth tied into a ball )
One person recommended using tobasco or vinegar swabbed in mouth when they bite? ( Have not done this )!!!
My DD bit for a reason... and was on incident # 20!!!! I changed her class @ daycare and this broke the cycle. However she did bite again 3 x a couple of weeks ago. not sure why? but luckily has not since then. Hope this is the end for us.!!! We read daily a good book called " No Biting" .. it discusses other things like no spitting , no hitting, no pushing in line etc too Wishing you luck in your's growing out of it as well!
