We have been identified as potential parents to 2 little girls in Ohio, Does anyone know if there is any kind of financial help for travel expences when it is through the state.
We are in Fla and in the process of adopting a child from Pa. He is living here now as a foster child thru the ICPC (interstate compact).
We flew him down here and Pa. will reimburse us by using the $2000 non-recurring expenses that they allow when adopting. I think many states offer this type of assistance. This will also pay for the lawyer fees for the adoption. Just save any and all receipts and log everything down (including gas, food, tolls, mileage, etc) if you are driving.
Best of luck!

We're the exact opposite, Ivy - we live in PA & are in process with a child from FL! Same thing but it sure would have been easier to switch homes for the time it took to get finalization - lots cheaper, too! How long did ICPC take? We're planning our 2nd visit in mid april & hope she can stay with us during the summer.
Best of luck with the ICPC. It's been nothing but a long drawn out process.
We lived in Pa. last year. Met our FS thru our 14yo bio son. We had the house up for sale to move to Fla. but we weren't 100% it was going to sell. So, in the mean time we became certified as foster parents in Pa.
M was just about to move in with us, when our house sold.
That was in Aug. we moved. In Aug. Pa. started the paperwork for the ICPC.
We had to get certified all over again here in Fla. That took almost 4mths.
We were certified as foster parents here in Fla in Dec. and M was able to fly down here and stay---but the ICPC is still not fully complete.
We have had him here for almost 4mths and we have not rec'd any board payment and no medicaid.
They say they have to update the homestudy to an adoption homestudy (why that wasn't done in the first place? beyond me)--then that goes back thru the ICPC?
So frustrating.
I have to say that on Pa's end - they've did their best. It sat on Fla's desk for 6 weeks in Tallahassee and if it wasn't for my DH calling them 16 times a day the past 3 days it would still be sitting there. Finally, the forwarded it to our county.
Where in Pa. do you live? We used to live near the York/ Harrisburg area. It's so pretty there. We still miss it.
