We have had our first placements now for 6 weeks with no financial assistance. I hate to ask their worker out of fear of sounding like we are in it for the wrong reasons. The children were an emergency placement, after 10 children being removed from another foster home under investigation. (that FF has since been arrested). We have gotten the medicaid cards sent to us now, but no talk or sign of the monthly checks. We could use the aid, but not only that, I am also concerned that it is not still going to the previous home.
How long does it usually take? We live in Texas.
Usually within the first 6 weeks....I would ask the sw, They don't think bad about us for asking. If you don't get it and it did go to the last addy, they won't catch it and next mth might go there to, then the sw will ask why you didn't say anything.
I would say somthing like, I was going to get xyz for Johnny, but for some reason his check hasn't came yet, I guess I'll wait till next week then just go get it.
or be stright, I was waiting for the striped, it didn't get here, could it have been sent to last addy?
I have had many sw, and never once did one give me a sideways look when I talked about money.

We are in Texas too and we usually get ours once a month at the first of the month.
I did have a problem with mine once, and my worker made it very clear to not be afraid to call and let her know. That way it keeps us happy!
Hope this helps.
Aimee
I will call her tomorrow and ask about it. I just didn't want to jump the gun and ask too soon.
Thanks!
Melissa
We are in Texas also, and we are directly with CPS (not a private agency). CPS pays after the first of every month for the previous month. If you had the child in March for any length of time you should have been paid around April 10th. And, you should expect to be paid around May 10th for April.
We have had numerous times that the kids worker did not fill out the correct information in the computer system and we were not paid. I call and email them immediately and also contact the "eligibility" worker and hound them until it is right. If they did not pay you what you were due in a previous month they will pay you immediately, even if it falls outside of the normal payment schedule.
DO NOT ever be afraid to question where the payments are.
PM me if you have any more questions about the process in Texas and if you are in my area I can give you all the contact information that I have.
