A new mom asked me this question. I said a baby carrier a la Baby Bjorn and my beloved Infantino, and a good stroller. And for the older months, the high chair.
What would you say?
Here's my Top 10:
1) Arm'sReach(TM) Mini-Co-Sleeper: A must for bonding and sleeping through the night Welcome to Arm's Reach! (Buy at Target, BabysRUs, etc.)
2) mittens (to avoid scratches on baby face)
3) unscented baby wipes
4) Desitin Creamy
5) Platex Airvent (sp?) bottles
6) Mylicon Oral Drops (for colic due to gas)
7) Little tuperware container that holds 3 servings of powder formula that you just mix with a premade bottle of water (BabysRUs, Target, Etc.)
8) pacifier holder than attaches to baby's clothes
9) rearview mirror fixture for car
10) Bibs! (velcro--NOT the tying kind...too much hassle)

I'd have to say the swing. We had older children, ages 12 & 10, when we adopted our first newborn. Using the swing gave the babies comfort while I could tend to the older ones. It especially came in handy when #5 came along!!!

I vote for the bouncy seat we got for our son. The one we had, vibrated and played music...he LOVED it. I used more then the swing! Later on I even used it when I first started feeding him solids. MAN..I miss those "bouncy seat days!"
