Guh. We have our first case of broken skin. Right between his eyes, no less. He was climbing into a plastic lawn chair, slipped because of sweaty legs and managed to scrape the skin right beween his eyes on that rough spot that plastic lawn chairs have. It broke the skin and bled. No band-aid can go there so he looks...
AWFUL.
Which makes me feel awful.
And we have Bible Study tonight. Just over an hour fresh. So it's still kind of swollen (only let me do ice for a few minutes until he stopped crying). So he looks bad. And we have to go out in public. And BLAH.
I know it happens. But. NOT TO MY KID. Right? Sigh.
Welcome to the wonderful world of boys! (Don't worry---you only feel completely mortified the first few times. After that, scabs become a fashion statement!).
I think my little guy has had a scab on him somewhere for like the last three years. And he's only four. Something about little boys....

Well Jenna, it is indeed welcome to the world of boys. (Not that it doesn't happen to little girls too!) It's really amazing how tough kids are. (You'll get used to telling the stories!)
We stopped at the fire station to show Josh and the guys this evening. We're referring to it as the Gaping War Wound. Nick points. Laughs. Then gives you a dirty look.
But really? RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES. Oh, the horror.
Everyone is right - welcome to the world of toddlers! I love what boulderbabe said about only being mortified the first few times; that is so true! My daughter bumps her head so often ( and of course, bruises easily) that we just keep her bangs a little longer
Hang in there, as it will be a bumpy ride - quite literally!
Oh, Jenna! I can SO relate! RIght now, AP is one big bruise on each leg from his knees to his ankles. But when we see blood (especially for the first time or first few), I would never have imagined the sick feeling that creeps into our stomachs and settles there for HOURS. Just sickening. POOOOOoooor baby!
I was just thinking last night (as I stood in the field narrating a veterinary procedure as A and I watched the doc castrate a horse) how easy it is for me not to feel anything in my stomach when I watch or perform some procedure on an animal with blood spurting or something oozing, but if my precious baby boy gets a scratch, bump or dares to lose a tiny drop of blood, how instantly I want to hurl, and how that feeling stays with me for a very long time......
We moms are tied to our children forever and really feel these things! I would guess that long after it stopped bothering NIck, you were still reeling from the aftereffects!
Boo boo, major injury, war wound, barely a scratch - doesn't matter. They hurt the moms all the same!!!
Mean ol' plastic lawn chair - Grrrrr!

I seriously think Timo has had a scab/boo boo somewhere for the entire last year. If you have escaped this long without blood, you are doing great!! Mine is a climber, and a runner, and kinda clumsy. We have gotten to the point where we don't react, and if he doesn't cry, we pretend like it didn't happen!!! If he does cry, of course we comfort him, but he can scrape his knees on the sidewalk, get up and keep running.
I think I may have a football player on my hands!!!
Aw, Jenna. So scary. We haven't been there yet as Yuna is just starting to get mobile crawling, but I don't think it's going to be too long until she walks and I'm just waiting the "BAD MOM" feelings I know I'll have when she gets a booboo.
Give Nick a kiss and hug from all of us. It WILL heal! :)
