Our agency in michigan is starting a Ukraine program. Probably due to open in about one to two months. We adopted our daughter in June 2005 from Russia. During our two year process this agency suspended their Ukraine program. I often think about a sibling for my three year old and truly loved traveling to Russia and meeting the Russian people. I would love for international adoption from a similar region to be an option for expanding our family.
Can anyone tell me what their experience is with the status in Ukraine?
Thanks

My husband and I are going through the process to adopt from Ukraine. You do not need to wait until your agency opens their program...you are allowed to adopt without an agency in Ukraine. I have found the US embassy website at U.S. Embassy Kyiv - Select language to be incredibly helpful. Once on the site go to American Citizen Services and then the adoption section. They have a very detailed description of the process and if you have questions they are quick to answer emails and very helpful!
They keep very up-to-date info on the adoption process there. There was some new updates to the process in March and April you might want to check out. Like they have limited the number they are allowing people to adopt per year and I think they either have or are in the process of disallowing singles and people over a certain age to adopt. :(
So check it out. I am happy to chat if you want.
