I think it will be a few years before DH and I are ready for another child, (I think we would like Yuna to be around 4 or 5) but with the increase in wait times it seems are present in most countries, I was wondering how long the timeline for Haiti is running now. Is it expected to get slower or remain roughly the same? Also, what is the average price of Haitian adoptions? If we wanted Yuna to be 4 or 5 when we actually brought the second child home, when would we need to start the process? Thanks for any help.
I would say a year to a year and a half is reasonable. In adoption you just never know how long it will be. Things change everyday! You can do independent adoption in Haiti so that could save you quite a bit of money. i actually recomend this as either way you still do your own paper work. The costs can range from $8500 to $19000. It just depends on where you adopt from and HS costs and if it is an independent adoption or with an agency. Also the number of times and length of travel factors into cost.
Good luck on your decision.

Hi,
Some orphanages are a lot faster than others - fast orphanage: I would say expect 12-18 months. Slow orphanage: 18-24 months. I expect things to start moving faster in the future - they are still working out some kinks in one section of the adoption process - but when they get that worked out I hope to see the process back down to 6-12 months. I parents brought home a baby boy in 2005 and the process took a little less that 7 months, so it is possible!
Average cost - travel, homestudy and everything is probably $10,000 - $12,000 for independent adoptions - a couple thousand more for agency probably.
Hope that helps!
