What do you need to enroll a foster child from another state in school? Our niece will be in 2nd grade and all we have is a copy of her birth certificate and a copy of her immunization records. I don't think that's enough...do we need something from the school she was previously at in Idaho? And how do we get her a physical? Can I take her to my bio daughter pediatrician and pay out of pocket and then get reimubursed for that? Or do I have to go to an approved medicaid pediatrician? She does not have her medicaid card yet and I doubt she'll have it by the time school starts. The process is so slow!

I believe the paperwork needed for school will vary by school/state. I know in my district we needed to fill out a pile of paperwork, proof of our home ownership, letter from the county that we had custody of the foster child, physical, etc I would contact your school district for an enrollment packet. That would be a good time to ask about previous school records, I think my daughter's new school got them directly from the old school, because I don't remember doing it. As far as not having the medicade card in hand, that shouldn't be a problem, they should be able to give you the number though.. I know in my county we are required to have the foster child in for a physical within 48 hours of placement in our home, so they have to give you some kind of info
