Finally, our niece's ICPC is complete. Now we wait for the CW to call us to setup a time to meet her.
Anyone heard of PSI? That is who the CW is from that oversees our niece and does her reports. Anyone have them for your kids?
Congrats Helen!!
From a fellow ICPC family in Fla. - I know it's a LONG road and glad you are finally arriving at the end of one=)
Our foster son from Pa. has been living with us since Dec. and we are still waiting to work out the Medicaid! OY!
Best of luck on your continuing journey!

What does this stand for? We are looking to foster adopt in Pinellas county and I have no idea where to start. We have an adoptive son from Russia but we would like to add another son to our family that is younger than he is so we don't distrupt the birth order in the house. He is almost 4.
Thanks
Heather

It is needed when you adopt a child from another state then from which you reside. It details who pays for what, etc...and whom oversees the child prior to the adoption. In our case we get our monthly stipend from the sending state (Idaho) and the receiving state (Florida) does the paperwork each month and assigns a caseworker here to visit her once a month.

I've talked to PSI about getting additional training. They are a private company whose parent company is Magellan. They contract with the state to provide foster care support services, I think they have just gotten going and a still small.
My husband raised a stink with our ICPC coordinator about why nobody had come to see our niece in the 1st 30 days she was here. Finally mid August we had our 1st visit. And I think only because he called a bunch of people did they finally come out. Then all they asked was basic questions to me and asked to see our niece's room and that was it. It was a very short visit and the CW didn't even know she was our niece. She looked surprised and said "How were you able to get a foster child from another state here?" Once I told her she was my niece she then thought we were relative caregivers. It was very odd. She is a CW assigned via ICPC and not a CW for a relative caregiver. Don't they even get any information as to whom they are going to see, etc??
Then she tried to push off the Medicaid application on me to do. She asked me to call the Medicaid coordinator and once I did the Medicaid coordinator said "OH the CW is a courtesy case worker via ICPC and she should be doing the Medicaid paperwork for you" and said she'd call our CW directly to get it started. Guess there is alot of miscommunication in the system. But I hope I have it straightened out now.

I'd report any problems or concerns to FSS. Do you have a contact there?
No, but I do have kids central number whom I can call. I'm going to touch base with the SW tomorrow to make sure she's done the paperwork and then if not I'm going to work my way up. It's crazy how they don't even know the information on the kids cases....how can they help you then?
