I just wanted to pass along this valuable information for those of you that will or hope to adopt. Maintenance Adoption Subsidy Rate Increase Families who adopt special needs children currently receive a cash subsidy and support services. The Governor recommends an increase of $8.6 million in the existing subsidy rate for children adopted from state care, from an average of $3,792 to $5,000 annually until the child turns 18 years old. For adoptions of children not in state care, the administration is recommending $11.4 million for a subsidy of $3,000 annually for the first three years following the adoption. These initiatives together will focus an additional $20 million toward the placement of children into stable family environments.Strengthening Florida's Families

Very interesting reading. What actually caught my eye though was where he says that over 2700 children in florida need adoptive homes. There are less than 1100 listed on the florida website as needing adoptive homes. Which one is correct? If there are 2700 kids needing homes why arent they listed?
