How come Floridians don't post here too?

Where in Florida are you located? I'm in NE Florida...I know Florida is a huge state so getting together may be a problem. I do go to Orlando alot and that's pretty mid Florida :) So maybe we can meet up there sometime if anyone is from central Florida.

Hi, I'm in north Florida. We are trying to adopt through DCF. We finished MAPP on June 30th . We had our first homestudy August 10th. We were supposed to have the second visit on the 17th , but the caseworker was out sick. Still waiting for her to reschedule.

I'm in North South Florida in St. Lucie County. I do notice that the people who are on the boards are a lot of North Floridians.. congrats. I wish we had a lot more of south floridians. cris73 - congrats on taking the 1st steps for adoption from the state, I wish a lot more people would make that decision. hkolln - how far are you into the process, are you adopting, fostering or both or adoptive mom?

We are licensed foster parents here in Jax. We got our license in Nov 2006 specifically for our niece whom was in foster care in Idaho. She's 7 (will be 8 soon). She's finally living here with us....since June 30th. Her Mom voluntarilly signed away her parental rights on Aug 9th and Dad was TPR'd by default. We will be adopting her once we get the TPR papers from the courts and can get our adoption home study done...probably not til beginning of 2008.

That's great that you are able to adopt your niece and keep in the family. Sometimes you wish other foster children had that option.
