Our file has been in the Dominican Republic for 13 months now. We are growing wearing of waiting a sliding 1-3 months over & over again.
We are considering switching to Ecuador but our homestudy will have to be updated and our file will have to be reapproved by the Ontario government. It means about another 4 months of paperwork/approvals and then we go to the end of the Ecuador queue and begin waiting again.
We would be encouraged to hear from anyone who has recently successfully completed or is currently in the DR waiting to complete their adoption. I really don't know if I have it in me to start over again.
I have a daughter trying to adopt in the DR, she working a Christian school and have trying adopt for about 2 years. We are still filling out the papers, she has custody of the baby. We are trying get a good lawyer for you. We can use all of help and support we can get. thanks louismu

After begging our adoption agency to get some details for us this is what we've learned:
1. Adoptions are progressing in the DR. Right now the adoptive families are mostly from Europe and the US.
2. There are 150 families in the queue ahead of us!
Hi Minuet:
Have you considered South Africa? (I am in Ontario too). I know you would have to redo your paperwork but the referrals are coming quite quickly from there right now. Or do you need to stay with the agency you began with?
PM me if you want more info,
Karyn
Minuet, I have sent you a Private Message. Also what agency are you working with ? and was this a response you were given by them today..?
We have considered several other countries including Ethiopia. My husband is Latino so we really felt an Hispanic adoption was the right thing for us. Choosing the country was the most difficult part for us as there are very few countries which are currently active with Hispanic adoptions that will allow someone over 40 to adopt an infant, which was also important to us.
