Should expectant parents be required by law to have counselling before and or after they relinquish their rights?
ABSOLUTELY! And IMHO - it should be required PRIOR to signing our children away...as long as that counseling includes informing us of available resources to assist us in keeping our children - not just helping us deal with the emotional issues that go hand in hand with adoption.
But no matter what it includes I still think it is a MUST for everyone involved with an adoption.

I think the problem with it being a law is finding counselors who are truly going to be there to help with weighing options and not to push one way or the other.
I think in the ideal world, yes, that would be ideal. I am afraid that some people would push for their own desires and not help the expectant parents to see what choices they have and help them pursue them. Make sense?
