We will be doing a home study soon and I am wondering what we should expect?
Thus far, here is what I have learned based on reading and listening to podcasts. Please add to the list:
- Our family's personal history & parenting styles
- What we have to offer an adoptive child
- What we are looking for in an adoptive placement
- Review of financials
- Review of our home
- Safety of our home (ie fire extinguishers, fire plan, medicines locked up, poisonous detergents locked up)
- Review of pets, confirmation of their vaccinations
Please add other areas we should know about and be prepared for.
We just had our second homestudy visit yesterday. I wrote about each visit in detail after we had them. I'll just link you over to my page rather than copy/pasting everything:

Good luck!!!!!!
