We are fairly new to the Air Force (1 year into it) and have just started the adoption process. We just turned in our application to the agency and have contacted a social worker to do the homestudy and have filled out her paperwork. We have filled out the form to check for child abuse and just did the fingerprints to check for a criminal history.
Here's my military question...Both DH and I have lived into NE from the time we were about 2yrs until last year. We have only lived in TX for 1 year. We had heard that we need to get a FBI check done with our fingerprints vs. state by state because we are military. In my researching I found that a FBI search will take 16-18 WEEKS!!!!
If we go state by state do we have to do both NE & TX or can we do JUST TX because that is where we live now?
I am hoping to do just TX because we will have the results in 5-7 days vs. 6-8 weeks from NE.
Any direction is very much appreciated!!

My DH is Air Force, and we live in Texas. When we started foster to adopt (through) the state of Texas we did FBI fingerprinting. That was what was required no matter how long you lived in Texas or lived outside of Texas.
Are you doing international, statewide or foster to adopt? It may depend on that. I would double check with your agency. I thought EVERYONE did FBI no matter what.

We are doing domestic adoption.
How long did it take for you to get your results from the FBI? Was it really 16-18 weeks?!
Thanks for your reply!
How are you enjoying this cooler weather. I'm afraid our blood is already thinning and the kids think 62 is too cold to go outside to play. Very funny!! :)
Thanks,
Jessica
