I would like to start a Bible study. I am thinking the week after Thanksgiving is when I'll start.
My goal is to choose a book and go over 3 or 4 chapters a week. I want this to be a safe place for us to pour over the scriptures. It will not be a "you're wrong for believing this" thread or a bashing thread. I always gain so much from reading other people's perspectives on scriptures, and I thought it would be nice to try and do this.
Please let me know which book you'd like to start with.
I really like this idea. I used to participate in a Bible study at my church, but life is now such that it is difficult.
Anyway, I voted for Matthew because I think the Gospels are good place to start.

I'm thinking when we do start having one person volunteer to "host" the study that week. We can use it on the same thread if you want rather than starting a new one each week. I just think it would be nice to have different people be "in charge" of how much we read and discuss each week, etc. So, when we're staring, I will be asking for volunteers, so be prepared!
I chose Matthew too because awhile back my Sunday school class did a year long study of the bible in chronological order. I missed out on part of the gospels because I was mentoring for the confirmation class.
Looks like so far the consensus is Matthew! We'll see how it turns out. I find it interesting that everyone's voting for the same book when you can't see the results until you've voted. Matthew was my pick, too!

LOL Ani. I'm happy with Matthew because I have a book that I bought to do with the kids...which covers Matthew. :D This way I can be preparing for theirs when I read mine. Hey, I only have so much time in a day!! LOL
I'll go with whatever. I am doing classes for Christian Education and to become a licensed Lay Minister. I have class this weekned, but then I'm free until January.
I have not read the entire bible, so I don't know that I will have much to offer, but my class in January is on the New Testment, so I will be reading that before then.
What a wonderful idea Ani. I used to belong to a small group, but most people don't want me to bring all the babies with me and they go where I go.
Matthew is the perfect book to start with.

I think that's a great idea. I miss my women's study this year at church. I just didn't want to take our new babe to the nursery TWO times a week. He just got over stomach flu (only 6 months old), and of course spread the joy to the rest of the family!! I'm just getting over it.
Anyway, I'd love to participate when I can.
Blessings,
