I am an adult adoptee (almost 44) who's been searching for her birthparents since I can remember. 15 years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus and my condition has now become life threatening. I could sure use some type of medical history for my 3 children as well a my self, since my condition has worsened and I'm facing the removal of a kidney and have serious heart issues due to Lupus.
I must admit, also want to know who they are and what they look like, but I'm expect nothing more than a medical history of some kind. It seems however from all of my searching online, that they do not want to be found :(
I posted my adoptee profile here in 2002: , Barbara Olson, 12-13-1963, Illinois, Lutheran Social Services, 12-02-1964, ILBarbara Olson, 12-13
And that is all of the information I have been given. My Adoptive parents passed away over 7 years ago. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really do not want to die with this emptiness nor with an empty medical history for my children and theirs to come.
Blessings,
Lilly
Hi Lilly,
Here is the link to Illinois on this site. Illinois Search Resources
It sounds like a fairly open state and possibly has a registry that you can sign up for.
If you come to a brick wall you should petition the courts based on medical needs to open your complete file. Best to have a doctors note stating your illness etc. You can always hire someone to do the searching for you if you can afford it. There are search angels that will help too.
The court opened my files after I was dx with rare disease after a heart attack and stroke.
Good luck,

lily, good luck. I know the courts won't open adoption records even for a medical emergency, unless the birth parent has filled out a consent form, at least they don't here in pa. just wondered how many other sites you have posted on looking for birth parents? I am happy to say I searched and found my family on adoptionregistry.com. I was posted there and so were they. I searched many ways, online, through the mail and even letters to the courthouse, and finally found what I was looking for. Just keep looking and hoping.
Hi Lilly , my name is Denise. I was reading your post and felt a need to reply to it .I am looking for my daughter she was born in 1978 , I need to pass on medical history to her ..My mother passed away from complications of Lupus 23 years ago . Since then I have developed my own medical issues .I found out that Im a diabetic and it runs in my family. Thank GOD that I have not developed Lupus. I dont know you , but you are in my prayers . Good luck in your search .

Have you tried petitioning the courts for medical reasons? After surgery for colon cancer I petitioned the courts in NJ and the judge gave me her name and where she originated ,from there I found her through Ancestry.com. NJ is not an easy State either
Unfortunately she wasn't very thrilled hearing from me seeing as she had never told her husband (50+ years ago) and medical history went out the window with her quote " there is no such thing, everything is God's Will"
Anyway, I would try petitioning the Courts
Good Luck
