Macon has started banging his head on things when he is mad or frustrated. He even does it on hard surfaces and I am afraid he is going to hurt himself. Does anyone elses child do this and what can I do to get him to stop? By the way, he is almost 21 months.
Thanks,
There's an old thread about this somewhere---talk to your ped, especially if it's accompanied by any other behaviors that bug you, but it's probably just a self soothing mechanism that will go away as he finds other coping skills. H did it when he was smaller, but stopped as he became more verbal.

We have 2 children 23 months old. They both think it's the best way to get attention. They use it when they are frustrated. We now give them time outs for the behavior. They need to start finding other ways to deal with the behavior. I try to give them a replacement behavior with the time out. "It's okay to be mad or angry. When you get mad or angry, tell momma with words." The head banging is somewhat related to lack of language.
