So I'm pulling together my foster/adoption application and it asks for a "recent photo of yourself/your family for the file."
I am not a photo person. (At least not when it comes to photos of me.) I really need some ideas and suggestions!
Things to know: I'm a family of one, plus two cats. An outdoor shot is out of the question since it's -10 right now and everything is ice and snow covered-- I'm pretty sure my camera would freeze. My best already-taken photos are two years old and are either from vacation at a theme park or hiking in the woods while wearing a hat. I have head shots for my work ID, but. . . well, they're headshots for work.
What did you do for your adoption profile picture? What did you wear? Did you include pets? (And if so, did you corral all of your pets or just the one who would sit still for the camera?) What else should I keep in mind?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I didn't worry about it being too recent, since I figured adults don't really change too much from year to year. Ours was a few years old, but we looked like normal people, as opposed to less flattering pictures that were more recent. We only needed to include humans (we have four cats and a dog...it could have been a very special photo shoot). Interestingly, we also need to have pictures of our house and "outdoor play areas".

We used a picture from a recent vacation. I think down the road in the process when we put together a profile book we will include photos of the animals. Can you ask a friend to take some pictures of you, I wouldn't worry too much about what you are wearing. We were wearing coats as it was outdoors and cold.
I think one from a couple of years ago would be OK! I wouldn't use one with a hat, though! You want everyone to be able to see your face. Good luck!
Thank you all! That's great to know. I won't be so concerned about using a two-year-old photo if I need to, but I'll also try having a friend take a couple of photos.
