Hi, I am very new to the process. I have been reading and found that women can breastfeed their adopted babies. does anyone have any information on this? Are there any of you breastfeeding. If I can find more information I may be interested.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
Your doctor would be the first I would talk to. He/she would have the answers for you concerning breastfeeding.

There is a whole section here on adoptive breastfeeding. I also have a lot of links to sites for information on my blog. Yet as a doctor I would not suggest looking to your doctor for advice since most doctors have little, if any knowledge about induced lactation.
What most people do is visit Ask Lenore and print the protocol and then take it to their doctors.
I breastfed Zara for 6 months, so I know a bit about it.
Good luck!
Ladies, thanks so much for your responses. I will check Ask Lenore and I will check with our local La Leche group.
I second Teendoc. She knows all the same places I recommend. I breastfed both boys (one bio/one adopted) and I am getting ready start one of the protocols in hopes of breastfeeding our next child. PM if you have questions.

Hello,
I also b/fed our adopted son who we brought home at 5 months - in fact he is still nursing at 17 months! We have had great success with the protocol and I would highly recommend the experience, it was and is so wonderful for bonding!
I'd be more than happy to answer any questions - I would also (in addition to Ask Lenore) check out Kelly's mom (google it or PM me for website) and Four Friends Adoptive Breatsfeeding - great resources!
You can ask your doctor, but in my experience most know almost nothing about it, and in fact you will have to educate them.
Good luck and feel free to PM me with any questions...
