Jenna's blog post Birth-First Parent Blog - My Adoption-Related Resolutions has got me thinking. I know there are a few areas in our adoption that I want to work on. I realize that I have a sense of responsibility and therefore play a part in how successful the relationship is. So, I've got a few resolutions for our adoption. Things that I promise to do this year to make the adoption and our relationship better. The main thing is to call once a month. What are your adoption resolutions for 2008?

I want to resume my journaling for A...before our visit, and before I started direct communication with D I wrote to A all the time...I want to get writing to her more.I want to increase the visits also, we just had the one this year, but I think there should be more in the upcoming year.I want to try harder to assert myself in what I need/want with regards to the adoption...ex. how many visits I want, how often we should communicate, etc.I blogged about some general resolutions, a few of which apply to adoption as well I believe, so I'll be working on that as well.Good luck Leigh and Tara in your resolutions as well!

Like I said, I journaled a lot (handwritten) before our first visit - then a little bit afterwards but it tapered a lot. At that point I had started blogging regularly and some of the things I've written will be for her as well, but since blogging I type way more (easier to get away with at work too).My other adoption resolution is that I'm going to try to trust DD's Mom more. I have had a bad habit of hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I worry that doing that will have an impact on how I allow myself to develop a relationship with her.
