I have never been on this site and was just searching information about Sofia, Bulgaria. I found your question and had to respond.
My husband and I adopted a little girl from Sofia, Bulgaria in 1999. It was the best thing we ever did. She is now ten and a half. She is smart, beautiful, kind, generous, well-balanced and loved by everyone she meets. If I had to make a checklist of the perfect child, she has all the criteria.
Our adoption experience was perfect from soup to nuts. The orphanage, St. Sofia, was lovely (as orphanages go), clean and the children were well cared for. She came to us with a smile and love in her heart. She has been our daughter for almost nine years now. We adore her with a passion.
Prior to adopting her, we looked at about seven different international adoption options. Bulgaria was the best bet by far. The children at St. Sofia are well cared for and loved. She has no attachment issues. She is a normal, normal, normal kid. We have to mention that she is also artistic, athletic and drop dead gorgeous. She loves Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers, and everything else the girls at her age love.
Okay, we have to admit she is entering the 'tween years and does the occasional eye roll, but isn't that what its all about?
Signed,
Susan, mother madly in love with her little girl
