Okay, I was 12 when I signed the adoptions papers with information that my birth mother did not want me, had not tried to contact me or try to be a part of my life. But I have found out that this was not the case. I found out that my step-mom returned many letters and cards to my birth mother, they put the notice in the paper but my real mother was available through the court system from the original custody hearings. I so would not have signed the papers if I would have been informed of my real mother's attempts to get in contact with me. So I want to get my original Birth Certificate Re-instated because I don't want to have any afflilation to my step-mom. She is evil, has control issues and lied for many years about my real mother not trying to get a hold of me. Is there anything I can do??? Because I want to make sure that my daughter knows exactly who her real grandmother is. I want nothing to do with my step-mother and never really have. I want this adoption reversed on the grounds of Fraud, but I want to know if I can do that or not before I get too worked up about this. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Depending on which state you are in, more than likely your only option is to be "re-adopted" by your mother. In some states/provinces, an adult can be adopted by anyone they wish. Of note, unless your father would agree, more than likely this would terminate your legal relationship with him as well. You can't simply "undo" an adoption.
