Hi everyone. I'm only 21 years old and my husband and I have been married for 6 months. I plan on adopting my stepson.I actually just got off the phone with our lawyer who is filing the paperwork now. We already have full custody of my stepson and his mother has not seen him in 4 1/2 months (legal abandonment). We believe she has munchausen's syndrome and right now she is laid up in a bed in a hospital claiming she is having labor pains (6 months pregnant with 3rd child at 21.She's a great catch guys!) She has already lost custody of 2 children. I also have her mother recorded saying she was making my stepson sick when he was a baby. She is also claiming she will testify for us in court. I suppose I am just somewhat nervous. Is this enough to have rights stripped? She doesn't pay us child support so I know she can't afford a lawyer. She's extremely narcisistic.
I'm also nervous she will do something to hurt us. The family she lives with are all fugitives hiding from the law and addicted to pills. Just need some advice! Please!
Did the attorney say 4 months was long enough, I know each state is different, but I thought it had to be 6 months at least.
I think you will be fine, it is just scary at first.

Well, that is new to me. I am in KS, and it is 2 years... 4 months would have been so nice. Mo, is 6 months and that is the least ammont of time I had heard of till now.
If that is the law in your state, and you have that much backing, then I think you will be fine. I know you are stressed, I sure was but it will all be ok
