We are new to this and already confused. Is there not one rule for the whole country on age limits?
One website says 25-60. Another 25-48. Another 25-50.
Does it vary by region or agency? If not, why can't they all get their info straight on their websites?
We are 38-me and 46 (almost 47)- him and I guess the clock is ticking. And what's this about a new law that may pass that if you turn 50 at ANY point in the process your adoption process gets shut down? So you lose everything?

It is very agency dependant. It might also be because Kazkahstan is a huge contry and they have regoinal governments much like our state governments. While I am sure that the country has a limit to how many years older a parent can be than the adopted child individual regions can be more strict about this. My husband and I adopted from Urlask he was 48 when it was completed and there was not a problem at all with our agency or anyone in Uralsk. While there a woman who was a single mom and 50 years old was also adopting an infant with a different agency. When we were researching agencies we did find that some places have a much narrower view of what a family should look like than others. Feel free to PM if you would like the name of the agency we worked with.
