My husband and I took the day off to finish up our dossier today at the state capitol. When we called our agency to confirm the monies due for translation, they informed me that the gentleman who worked at the Embassy went home and they fired the translator/interpreter...thus there is no reason to rush our dossier to the agency as it would just sit there....
Has anyone else heard this?
We have no idea how long this will delay us or when they may hire new people..
Any info is appreciated!

I am new to this site--my husband and I are awaiting our LOI (our paperwork is in Karaganda).
I just read your note and I'm sorry to hear that! When I spoke to my agency last week they told me that they had just heard that the embassy is hiring a new council and therefore they may be putting dossiers at the embassy on hold. They did not have any specifics, but that is what they are hearing. I would ask your agency to look into this for you as this may be the reason they told you your dossier may just sit.
Good Luck and Best Wishes!!
Your agency must be going through the DC embassy. They cahnged personnel there and the new guy doesn't put much priority on the adoption paperwork. It sounds like things are just starting to move again, but that this guy doesn't like how some of the translators are translating and he is saying if certain people translate your documents, he won't accept them. My agency uses the NY consulate so no problems are occuring there. I think your agency is just waiting for this guy to decide what he wants. If you aren't moving in a couple weeks, then I would be back on your agency.
