Hi Everyone,
My DH and I are hoping to adopt our second child in the near future and would like to cut the agency out of the mix this time for monetary reasons.
Can anyone tell me if a home study is required in Michigan when you are doing an identified adoption through an attorney only?
An updated homestudy(current to within 6 mos) is required for ANY adoption in michigan, be it private, through an agency or throught he foster care system.

Yes it is. My husband and I adopted privately through an attorney and still had to have a home study done. Our complete adoption was $12,300.00 including the home study.
