Hi Mamas,
Just curious when does baby hair fall out and true hair texture become apparent? DD has a head full of hair and getting excited for her real hair!!! :)

Hi,
I don't know about the baby hair falling out, I've never known that to happen. My experience has been that over the first year or so, the hair texture changes gradually. My daughter is ten months and her hair has gradually changed from very fine and straight to very curly. I don't know at what age the final texture, grade, etc., will settle in, it may vary from child to child but I doubt it will extend much beyond the first two years.

DD's hair didn't fall out. At about a year old the texture began to change and it became very curly. That made it a little tough at first as we learned how to care for her hair. But after some adjustment WooHoo! :happydance: I can do so many cute things with her hair and her hair stays in place! Her ribbons and bows (or Dora and Boots) really work with the two poms I usually do with her hair for everyday. I love it. My hair has never behaved in any way at any time in my life.

Her hair may not fall out. My niece never lost her hair but my goddaughter lost everything but the hair on the top of her head. The texture usually changes at about 1 year.

Thanks Mamas! I couldn't remember the process. The last babies I was around were my cousins and that was waaayyyy bacck in the daysss. :)

Does this apply to boys too? My son's hair is VERY straight. Will it come out or gradually become coarser?

When Hanna came home at 4.5 months old, her baby hair was already a thing of the past. Her hair is very curly and very course. She gets lots of fuzzies when her hair is braided because the short hairs around her forehead are so tightly curled. It always looks sort of messy.
My new fd is almost 9 months old and still has a head full of loose baby hair curls.
Maire-Kate had baby hair for about 6 months or so before it changed -it's very curly but not as curly as Hanna's.
