Female adoptee searching for birth parents, siblings, ect. Just received my non-identifying info yesterday. I was born 9/2/1951 in Savannah, Ga to an unwed mother. I was called "Jane Roberta". My birth mother was a waitress, and birth father was a mechanic. On 10/1/1951, I was placed in the custody of Child Placement Services (aka Children's Services, Inc.). My adoption was finalized 9/16/1953 in Savannah, Ga.

Obtaining Identifying Information:
An adopted adult (age 21 and over) can receive information if the birth parents have filed a consent. If no consent is on file, an intermediary will search for the birth parents to see if the birth parents will file a consent for release of information. If the birth parents are not located, the adopted adult can then file a petition to release the information on the birth parents.

Adult adoptees and birth parents can use the active registry, which allows trained intermediaries (Confidential Intermediaries) to conduct a search. Requires consent from the contacted party for the release of information.
Birthparents can file information with the birth parent registry. Only adoptees can access this information.
The courts can release identifying information to the adoptee with a "compelling need" for medical information.

Did you request non-ID from a] the agency, b] the state and c] the hospital where you were born? You are entitled to non-ID from all 3 of these institutions.
Good luck!
