We just started looking into adoption and are overwhelmed. So much information i guess the first place to start is with an agency.
Does anyone have any recommendations for an agency in San Diego County? We live in Oceanside. Please send me a PM.
:thanks:

Welcome both and congratulations! You will find a wealth of information on here.
I'm not far as I live in Wildomar next to Temecula. Sorry I can't help as I used a facilitator but good luck in your journies.
I am currently in the process of finalizing an adoption through a wonderful agency in San Diego who I would HIGHLY recommend. I'd be glad to talk more about my experiences. Feel free to PM or email me. I'm a new member, but I don't believe I am able to state the agency through this post. Is this correct? Thanks!

Okay, I am in San Diego north county, too. We just went to the county adoption orientation. We are also thinking about an orange county private adoption agency, Independent Adoption Center?
So, could you post/pm your recommendations, too?
Thanks,
Cara
PS, we should continue this thread!

Anyone have anything to suggest for San Diego area? Homestudy or agency wise? I'd would LOVE a PM!
We were in North County, went through the county adoptions and LOVED it! The classes were phenomenal. Our worker CRIED during the orientation video. I told my husband I want him to be our worker... and he was! ;) He was the best adoption worker ever! He helped us so much in our decision making process about what we would feel confident about accepting in a placement. He asked if we would take a sibling group. I thought he was NUTS! To go from no kids to siblings? He explained some of the pros of adopting siblings. We said we would. A few months later, we got a call about a 2 yr old and and 3 month old sibling group! Best leap of faith we ever made! ;) That worker has since retired, and it's been a few years, but I can tell you that if we could get stationed in SD Co again, I'd want to adopt again unhesitatingly.
Last year, we finalized an adoption in San Bernardino Co, so that makes 3 adopted kids for us.
Today we got the call from a neighboring CA county that there is a sibling in need of an adoptive home. We are in NC now, so it will have to be an ICPC placement.
One thing I loved about SDCo that we didn't have as much in SBCo was visiting speakers. We had adoptees, previous adoptive parents who recently finalized, and social workers specializing in special needs like drug exposure and ADHD. It was awesome. I missed that in our next round of classes in SBCo. San Diego has some awesome resources for foster & adoptive families.
We are also in San Diego & have begun looking into the various adoption options. Wow! We would love to learn more about experiences with local agencies. Please PM us with any pros & cons.
Thanks!

I'm up in OC and I've been trying to find an agency too. We went to the county orientation and when I walked out of it, I knew that we were going to go with a private agency..
I have a few agencies that we're looking at but right now at the top of my list is Olive Crest. They are licensed in San Diego too as well as LA & OC.
