...kindergarten!!! What a beautiful, wonderful, sad day!!!
The kids were soo super sweet. They came in, we said a prayer, and they sang so many beautiful, inspirational songs.
After the teachers, principal and priest spoke, the teacher sat up front and each child walked up with a poster that they drew of what they wanted to be when they grew up...they wanted to be ballerinas, monster truck drivers, a lion tamer (haha), a mom (awww)...and then we saw AJ heading up to the front.
My DH said, "I'm so nervous for him - I hope he says whatever he is going to say and not freeze up in front of such a large group."
Then he walked up front and said in his most confident voice "My name is Adam, and when I grow up I want to be a soldier"...and I started to cry...because my baby has become such an amazing little boy in such a short amount of time...and in three very short months, he will be gone 5 days a week for more hours a day than he ever has been.
Then they started to sing again..."This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..." and I thought, you know, that song is about these kids - they are our little lights, and as parents, it is our job to let them shine.
I love my boys - and for the life of me, I don't know what I am going to do when Joey is in the same place, a mere two years from now, getting ready to graduate kindergarten, just like his big brother.

lovemyboys, you will be right there at the school, volunteering to help. I loved when my boys were younger and I volutunteered every opportunity I could to help in the classroom. When J was in 1st grade (and I only had one child) I was in the classroom just about every week, helping with the art projects. When E was in 1st grade I went to his classroom twice a week to read with the kids. Volunteering in the classroom is a great way for your to advocate for your child, get to know his peers and show him how important you think his education is.
Yes, our day was wonderful - thanks bajj and dragonfly...
And mrsred - you are RIGHT about volunteering - our school "encourages" (read: requires) that parents volunteer - and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The day before "graduation", they had a school picnic, and I got to be a class chaperone - it was one of the greatest experiences I've had this year!
I told my DH that now is the time I should probably be looking for a job (well, for more than the 1 day a week I work outside of the home) but there are so many great opportunities in the school, that I don't want to have to miss out on them!
