I'm searching for the twins (who I think are boys) my mother gave away when she gave birth to them at the age of 15. Don't know much other than my grandmother sent her away (no clue where to) b/c she was an embarassment to the family. Have always wanted to find them but my mother does not talk about it as I believe she feels ashamed due to how my grandmother treated her. My mother's birthdate is January 28, 1957 so she would have been 15 during most of 1972. She was originally from the Latrobe/Derry, PA area. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi Malavite -
I'm sorry no one responded to your post. I'm trying to go through this folder and respond to people who haven't had a reply, so a lot of what I'm typing is a repeat on every topic.
If you haven't seen any of my other posts, I'd suggest the following steps. Apologies in advance if you've already done these steps:
1.) First, please register at the International Soundex Reunion Registry. I'd suggest sending in 2 registration forms, one for each of them. Send them a note and let them know you're registering for twins. There is a large chance they were separated at birth and do not know they have a twin out there.
You can download the forms from here:
ISRR - International Soundex Reunion Registry
2.) Maybe if your mother reads 'The Girls Who Went Away' by Anne Fessler she may feel a little less alone. Most libraries have a copy of it, or you could purchase it online. There is also a very supportive group for mothers from her era called First Mother's Connect. If she has internet access, she'll find a lot of caring and supportive women there:
FirstMothersConnect : FirstMothersConnect
3.) Please try to talk to her and see if she'd be willing to register at the Pennsylvania Parent's Registry. Their website is at
Health: Adoption Registry Information
Unfortunately the link to download the form to register is broken, and has been for some time, so she'd need to call 1-877-PA-HEALTH and ask them to mail her a copy of the form.
4.) Please search the registry here and if you don't see any matches, set up a search profile yourself:
Adoption Registry - Records, Reunion Registries, Adoptees, Search Reunite
5.) As a sibling, your search options are very limited in Pennsylvania, however I do know siblings who have been successful in a search. There are three great Pennsylvania search pages you can read over. Each one has a great mailing list too:
Pennsylvania Adoption Search and Education - Main Menu
PAAdoptionConnection : We are an adoption search and support group located in Western PA.

Good luck and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

I am searching for my birthmother I don't know where she lived, I was told she was 16 when she had me and that when I was adopteed she was pregnant again I don't know if I was a twin or not. I was told that my last name was Roberts but I really don't know if that is a fact or not. I went to alot of foster homes and my grandmother gave me up cause she said she wasn't takening care of me if my mother wasn't. I just wanted to send this reply to you to know if there is anything that sounds like me or not? Talk to you later
I was born around 11-30-71 in P.A. I have a twin brother we were adopted together. Our adoption was finalized about 2/1973 in Luzerne county, the presiding judge was Judge Lapatta. I was 5 pounds 11 ounces and my brother was 6 pounds and 6 ounces we were born about 6:47 a.m. While in hospital we were called Baby A and Baby B. I don't know anything about my birthmother. I saw your post and just realized that you were searching for twin boys. Please contact me if you think there is a connection.

Hi,
My name is Sean. I was born May 20, 1972 in Baytown, Texas to a 15 year old birth mother. As far as I know though, I'm not a twin. But who knows what all went on for adoptions in the 70s. The information I received from the Texas Adoption Registry was that my birth mother was 14 when she conceived me and 15 when she delivered me. So, based on my DOB, I figure she was born between August 1956 and May 1957. My birth mother was not from Texas. Her parents sent her here because it was "socially unacceptable" for her to be pregnant. I was also told that my BM had 3 other children after me. Those children all had the same father, which was different from my birth father. One of the children, a male, died at the age of 29 in an automobile accident in Texas. He left behind a wife and 1 child.
If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me.

My name is Mike. I have a twin brother. We were born on May 20, 1972 in Pennsylvania. I believe that our mother worked at a hospital in some capacity, but I am not positive. I was also told that we had three older siblings (possibly from a different father)
