Hey, All;
I'm new to this whole "search and reunite" thing, so please bear with the angry and frustrated new guy...
I was able to track down my adoption info via the agency responsible for putting my deal together back in '71, but as you all know the agency is restricted from divulging any identifying information to the adoptee without birthparent consent.
Am I the only one who thinks that's a pant-load of crap? It's my belief that the birthparents shouldn't be able to shirk the responsibility of us adoptee's getting a little information about where they came from - especially medical information (I am a 6-year cancer survivor, and I'd like to know at least a little something about what I may have passed along to my son).
I sort of feel like I was handled like a piece of property, and both my adoptive parents and birth parents were given all sorts of options regarding how much they could learn about each other, while I am told that I have to jump through hoops to find out who gave birth to me!
If anyone has any information about what next steps are available to me, please feel free to message me.
Thanks for taking some time to read this rant, and any information you can provide will be helpful.
Peace.
