http://forums.adoption.com/guatemala-adoption/336889-did-you-see-so-sad-guatemalan-boy-abandoned-walmart.htmli'm waiting for someone to tell momtocolin a few things that are not appropriate here since her post does seem a little disaplanarian on guat forum parents. i'm waiting for a phone call about our .26 hearing, so i'm probably not the best person to mod this thread....but i think we need to watch it.

I'm really baffled by her posts. Her first post confused the heck out of me b/c I couldn't see on the forums where she was getting all her points. Then she says "I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE MEDIA ETC>!" and now keeps saying people are offended etc.
wth????
To me it's like she's having a separate discussion on there all by herself. lol!

no...the first post seems like it is assuming that in saying we feel badly for the boy, we do not feel badly for the mom. and it wasn't about that in the beginning. it was JUST about the boy. i hate when people have to find lines to read between. THEN she said it was about the media...but to me it sure looked like it was also about this forum. the thing i find the most trouble with is she keeps saying things about how WE should understand bc alot of us wouldn't be parents if people hadn't abandonned children. and now it is a race priviledge? wth? first of all......i can not equate a lady leaving her child in a walmart with eli's mom who made a PLAN for him. second of all, white people abandon their children too. it is often in the news. no one ever says anything about them being white. this is a huge source of contention for me bc yesterday our baby did in fact have his mom's rights terminated. she tried to fight, and i applaud her for that, but our first son, she abandonned. it was a really dumb choice made by someone who was too wrapped up in other things to care at that time. people of all races are capable of making poor decisions......whether it be out of mental illness (as mentioned in the thread), desparation, or just a really bad day, and i don't think we can blame race. i think that is not fair. it is not fair for our Guatemalan kids to watch Guatemalan kids be abandonned at a walmart, watch their lives turned horribly upside down, and watch someone blame it on the fact that the mom *probably* was here illegally and doesn't speak english. isn't this what we are trying to fight.....stereotyping people based on appearances. what...just bc she is guatemalan she is illiterate, non-english speaking, and here illegally? wth? this whole thread just lights me up. i feel awful for the mother. regardless of what language she spoke, she obviously needed help. but really, come on, the boy is 2 years old. i think we are allowed to feel HORRIBLE for him without expressing condolences for the mom. i think it is ok to have a little less compassion for a mom who leaves her child at a walmart.forget it....i think i have to post on that thread. ugh.......
