Thirty-one years ago, my birth father left my mother and me and we have had zero contact since. I am married, and my mother-in-law helped me search online for my birth father. We found what we think is him -- the right name, the right city, etc. My mother-in-law wrote a letter to him, thinking it would be less threatening if a third-party contacted him. But he has never responded, not to my mother-in-law and not to me (she gave him my address too). He knows about me; he knows that I have a one-year-old son who shares his name with the father I've never met. What do I do, when he apparently wants no contact with me? It hurts so badly, this rejection ...

Is it possible he didnt get the letter and someone else did and intercepted it?
Always a possibility, I suppose. I'm thinking of writing a letter myself and sending it certified mail.
Does he live anywhere near where you live? If so you might want to just show up on his door step. Expect the worst and hope for the best.

I will not take a stance on what you should do....but as a natural mom...waiting for the day for my twin boys to come to me and my search is over....i would much rather receive a certified letter than have them just show up at my door. not that i would ever turn them away...but need time to register the fact they found me. having said that, you do not know that he even received that letter...my husband had and ex-wife that kept letters from his children from him...when she finally left...she threw a shoe box at him that contained a couple of years worth of correspondance letters from them...he was in such shock! do not presume anything until you know for sure he has signed a registered letter receipt...just my opinion as a mom .....:grouphug:
