What is the homestudy for waiting children like in Indiana? We're going to adopt through the SNAP.
How long should I expect the whole thing to take?
Thanks!

The homestudy itself was relatively painless for us BUT be careful who you work with. Here is what I mean: we were using an agency from Florida, but had to have a social worker licensed in Indiana do the Home Study. The first one we used turned out not only to be a flake, but the organization she worked for ended up in a lawsuit in Indianapolis for some reason. Families Thru International Adoption there in Evansville was a wonderful help for us. Good luck and hang in there, it takes a lot longer than you would think, I think even for a domestic adoption. Our little girl came home this week! We're very tired, but happy.

The home study process can be a source of anxiety for some prospective parents, who may fear they will not be "approved." It may be helpful to remember agencies are not looking for perfect parents. Rather, they are looking for real parents to parent real children.
