I feel like banging my head against a wall would be more productive. :hissy:
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
I filed for non-ID/ and ID on birthmom/BF. Paternity was never proven though the Judge was progressive and refused to grant the adoption without the TPR on BF. This was 1972, before the laws came about that BF had to be notified of adoption, etc.
birthmom was contacted by a CSS search agent and she lied and said the only child she ever gave birth to was her daughter in 1985. Apparently I have a sister. birthmom led the agent on a wild goose chase. Finally... after the 3rd contact from the agent... she admitted that her husband and daughter knew nothing about me and not to contact her again. She filled out the updated medical form - which I received - but 90% of it contradicted what she wrote in 1972 at the time of her TPR hearing.
The problem I have is that I have a medical condition which has gone undiagnosed for more than 5 years now. The doctors all agree that whatever it is is genetic and to get accurate info from her and my BF would be invaluable...
Unfortunately
1. Even if I could get a Judge to order her to give me info... no one can make her tell the truth
2. Even though BF was TPR'd paternity was never proven and therefore can't be revealed to me even by a Judge. So ... the only person that can give me his info is her and that seems very unlikely since she has no desire to meet, or even be truthful.
3. I contacted the WI bar association referal center looking for a lawyer who would go to court with me... I was told that no judge has ever granted the request to unseal an adoption file in the state of WI and even with it being medical necessity... it would be a waste of time to try. I was also told that NO lawyers in the state of WI would pick up this case for me. (How's that for a helpful state service?!)
So,
Where do I go from here?
I have a whole bunch of non-ID info... just nothing that seems very useful. In addition, the Judge that granted the adoption and did the TPR's is dead. My parents lawyer is dead. The social worker is dead.
I'm to the point where I'm ready to start calling everyone in the Madison phone book - like the animal in the Dr. Seuss story "are you my mother", but asking instead, "are you my father?"
