pregnant friend wants me to adopt her baby

I'm new here, and I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I live in Ballwin, Mo and my friend is newly pregnant and scheduled an abortion. But she knew I was trying and recently had an ectopic pregnancy and asked me if I want her baby, otherwise she'd get the abortion. I thought about it, and we decided to go through with it. Does anyone know how complicated this might end up being? I spoke with a lawyer.. he said he handles situations like this all the time. I would have a social worker check out my home and they'd do a background check which is all fine with me. But I'm scared they might say I don't make enough money, or I am in a female parter relationship, etc... It just seems too good to be true. If she wants me to have her baby, then that should be what matters I would think. I just know the legal system is so crazy, regardless of what the birth mother has to say. I want to save this baby and I would do anything to stop an abortion if I can help it.
