I would like to start by saying "Thank You" in advance for taking the time to view this post. I will try to make this as short as possible.
My grandmother, Barbara E. (Greene) Weaver gave birth to a baby boy around September 1953. This baby was a product of a rape. The birth took place in the Florence Crittenton Birthing Center and prior to giving birth she lived in the Florence Crittenton Home for Un-Wed Mothers for about 2 months. Both homes were located in Detroit.
The baby was named David Marshall Greene. Unfortunatley, my grandmother was entered into the home under an assumed name. It is virtually impossible to retrieve birth records, as she doesn't know what name she was entered into the home(s) under. There is also a possibility that the adoptive parents may have changed the childs birth name, that also leads to another road block.
We have limited information about the child, as she only saw him once after giving birth. We have pieced together a few photos, but without names and years it is impossible to determine who's who and what's what.
I am asking help from anyone who may be of any assistance to my grandmother, me and my family. The following is a few names that may be of interest:
Frances McAlpine (Social Worker @ Childrens Aid Society of Detroit in 1953)
Lowette, Rosa, Annette and Wesley Anne Lewis (Possible adoptive parent(s) who all have ties to Long Island, NY-specifically Huntington)
Carolyn Smith (Barbara's Step-Mother)
Jesse and Azalee Lawson (Jesse fathered David Marshall Greene)
Dr. David Marshall (Dr. who delivered the baby)
If any of this rings a bell to ANYONE, please feel free to respond to this post via email or adoption.com.
Again, Thank you!
