Does anyone have any info as to whether or not programs are on hold indefinitely for certain agencies or just for a short amount of time to catch up?
Hi,
I believe that most agencies will be opening their programs in 12-18 months. What I've seen the agencies do is estimate how many referrals they tend to get in a year. For example, the program we adopted our son received about 40 referrals per year. They then sign on 40-45 families and then close the doors. This is their way of preventing a huge backlog like China
Typically, I'm seeing programs open in the January/Febuary timeline. The slots tend to fill in a matter of days. Hope this helps.

Hello, I think that what you are seeing right now is not typical of Taiwan at all. We were with an agency two years ago to adopt Jer and they didn't close their program "temporarily" until recently.. like 6-8 months or so ago.. They do intend to reopen it and I think most do, but there has not been steady referrals this year in agency adoptions and I am not sure as of yet why. I have been following but I have not come to a conclusion. I have however seen that the families I know that are in waiting with agencies are being told about every 3 months that their wait has lengthened yet again by 1-3 months. I do think however that the programs will open again, I just don't know when. :flower: Sarah k
