We got our presentation date! We leave November 21st and our presentation date is November 24th! We actually got to choose our presentation date from six different dates and we chose the soonest date.
We're getting ready for a little princess party this afternoon to celebrate our daughter's 4th birthday - so I've gotta run, but I wanted to share our joy with you all here!

This discussion has me wondering whether or not Colombia celebrates (meaning government offices are closed) our Thanksgiving. I know that there are many (26 +/-) holidays. Maybe that could be a culture post. We would love to have more things Colombian to celebrate - and more reasons to make fun desserts for supper at home! Too bad my husband can't take all those days off from work, too. :woohoo:
The Chicago Consulate received our visa application today and I just called them to check on the status and ended up leaving a message. I'm hoping that tomorrow when I call back I can talk to a real person - or that we find out tonight via FedEx that it has already been picked up to ship back to us. That would be great!
I'm off to enjoy what very few minutes remain of nap time and try to accomplish something productive. It seems nearly impossible to be productive - 12 days until we travel!

We got an update today from the psychologist working with the children via the defender of minors office answering some of our questions and I have to say I'm quite impressed. I had been preparing myself for the possibility of the children not being prepared for their adoption based on what some others here and on other forums have gone through. Based on what we received today the children are well aware of their upcoming adoption and are doing well. I am greatly encouraged by the work the staff in the Risaralda Region are doing and have done on behalf of our children. We are so looking forward to being there with the children!

I can tell you that they do NOT celebrate our thanksgiving and while turkey is available it is very hard to find in the larger cities and maybe not at all in some smaller ones. There are tons of holidays in Colombia...ask while you are down there about some of the traditional foods. When in Bogota stop by Artisans Maku. They have a couple of Colombian cookbooks in English.
