My oldest son mentions two types of beans that he would like to have and I don't know what they are. One he says is a red bean that is made into a soup and he doesn't think there is much else in it but beans. The other is a small yellow bean. Anyone know what he's talking about?
There is a bean dish that is very typical Colombian fare. Its made with cranberry beans I think. I'll see if I can dig up a recipe, unless Sumerce has one handy. The other bean I have no idea about.

What part of Colombia is your child from? Food can vary widely depending on the region. My recipes all come form the Bogota/Boyaca area. However, I have family in Cali, Pereira area and in the Llanos -- I could check with them on recipes if your child is from those areas.
I'll make a culture post with a bean recipe, it is a generic red bean recipe. I am not familiar with the soup or yellow beans. My husband said the yellow beans are called CANARIOS, but they are not eaten in the part of Colombia he is from. I tried a google search and couldn't find a Colombian recipe for the canary beans. Sorry! But, try the red bean recipe I'm going to post and see if they like it.
