I may be presented with a job opportunity soon that will mean more money, but I'd have to work overnight...are there any single parents that work nights? what do you do about childcare? I have a "support" system but that doesn't mean they want to babysit overnight 5 nights a week...especially when they have their own family/life to deal with... Are there childcare providers that work those types of hours? I'm sure they are more expensive... Just looking for ideas....the hours would be 10pm-7am...if that matters:arrow:

Hi! I used to be child care provider and also work 2nd shift (3:30 to 12:30 now). Worked in day care center but took training to provide child care in my home years ago. There are in-home providers and centers who will take 3rd shift. Call your local Help line or Child Care Connection to find ones in your area. Also check with day care centers - if they don't provide overnight care, they may refer you to one who does. Hope this helps. PJ

I work 11pm to 7am. Works great for me, but I have a dayshift husband so he is there at night. You can often find childcare at night, hopefully it is available in your area. Sleeping children are much easier to babysit! I go home and sleep while mine are in school, then get up when they get home. That way, I'm rested and I think better able to deal with the afternoon busyness-homework, supper, chauffering, than when I worked days. Night shift pay is so much better where I work too, so I don't have to spend as much time away at work than when I worked days. There ARE a lot of benefits to it in our case.
