http://forums.adoption.com/guatemala-adoption/352706-across-all-borders.html the link to their organization says their 501c3 status is being worked on, so i deleted the thread, and contacted user. but i just wanted to be sure. also, let's say their website changes to say they are an approved non profit, do we just take the word of the site? or is is something that has to be checked out before the post is allowed? i'm not sure. :) p.s. edit to add, the user just wrote me this, and i don't know the answer:
No problem! I wasn't sure if it would be deleted or not. Do you know if I can post about AAB and NOT mention fundraising...maybe just post a link?

You did the right thing. Until their 501 status is completed, they can't fundraise on here.
I look at the website of the organization and typically do take their word that they are 501c3. Usually a site has a page dedicated to their tax exempt info and I look for that.
Sometimes if I have doubts, I've asked for their tax exempt filing number or have looked on the IRS website for the organization. The IRS site isn't always reliable though since they don't list every single organization.
