OK this is very OT but since I have all this time all night to go online while holding Kee who won't rest unless he's being held, I read a bio on slash. He is a fav of all times for me, especially that riff in the beginning of sweet child and all his other fabulous music. Anyway I found out that he is br... his dad is white and mom is black. He turned out really gorgeous and I love his signature hair. I don't think I've ever really seen what he looks like till now. Anyway he was raised by his Mom but what I found interesting is that his forte and choice of music styles is not too.. er... ethnic. I guess I'm glad since I'm like his number one fan and love what he chose to do. Although with his talent he probably would've done well at whatever type of music he tried. (I'm having an 80s flashback looking at all the old videos now... check these two out!)

Oceanica, I had to post a reply because I've been a fan of Guns n' Roses (the original of course) and Slash since, well, elementary school, I think (I was a weird child, I know). His bio was really interesting (and disturbing on some levels :)). I did know he was biracial and always love to come across examples of people "breaking the norm" so to speak and, you're right, that he's definitely a great example of that. And I might have to challenge you for the title of number one fan :).
Huge Guns n Roses fan here. My fav was always Axl but I love Slash. He's a very attractive guy under all that hair. I always found his interviews a surprise-very well spoken. Have you followed him with Velvet Revolver?
There a documentary on HBO called (i think) Black Voices volume 1 and Slash is on it talking about being black in America etc...
Before seeing that I had no idea he was biracial either.
Heaven is one of my FAVORITE songs! I wish Youtube worked on my computer so I could see it, I just cant get enough of 80s hair metal. It's great to see other 80s fans! I was a fan of GNR in junior high & I always knew Slash was biracial. I think it's very cool that he doesnt make a big deal out of not fitting into a racial stereotype & is just who he is.

MB80s, I'm with ya!!
It's been great actually.. I've been a zombie in the daytime but I've had a blast looking at all the old hair bands and watching the videos.
Oh and Shea, I was unaware of velvet revolver... it's great to see slash in action again!
I had no idea Slash was bi-racial either especially under that massive amount of hair. To be honest I don't know if I've ever really had a good look at his face.
I love people that go out of the norm. My DD is multi-racial and her genre of music is as bround as her ethnicity. She is well versed in anything from disco (Shake your Booty) to smooth Jazz (Alexander Zonjic) to R&B (Alicia Keys & Beyonce) to 70's rock (Peter Frampton) and of course and especially ANYTHING from High School Musical and Cheetah Girls.:rockband:
It is my understanding that many artists who do well come from a background of multi-genre music. We absoutely love music in this house.
I had to revive this (took me a while to find it!!) after the superbowl halftime show.... did anyone else see?
He is so amazing!!
And his hair looked awesome too.
