OK I just typed all this out and it disappeared, so I'm going to try again.Today I went to my youngest son's preschool V-day party. I told both my oldest son and the school office that he was not to ride the bus today. I went to the library to pick them up and my oldest son wasn't there. I saw his teacher he had at the beginning of the year and asked if his class was already here. She went to check on him and sent me to the office.Well, the office tried calling the bus driver and he said he was not on the bus! They kept paging his teacher but she wasn't there anymore. No one could find my son! Then we decided that I would go home in case he rode the bus and I would call them if he was home and they would call me if he showed up there.I came home and he was here. I have no idea why the bus driver said he didn't ride the bus today, but he did. I was shaking all over and so relieved to see him.The school apologized majorly. I'm not too happy with his teacher because she didn't give him his pass to not ride the bus (Yes, you have to have a pass to NOT ride the bus). I'm guessing she had an appointment or something and had to leave early and just forgot to give it to him and send him to the library.I thought my baby was gone!!! Man, when they said he wasn't on the bus I panicked. I'm still shaking!!!

Gosh what a mess. Thank goodness he's safe and sound. Did he look at you like, "What's the problem?" when you arrived home?
Scary, huh? I've only "lost" mine a couple of times in the a store, and usually because they are making a game of hiding from me. They just don't understand the danger out there....and I guess they shouldn't, but how do you warn them without traumatizing them?
Honestly, I don't know why the situation you just went through doesn't happen more often. My son has 26 kids in his 3rd grade class. I don't know how the teacher remembers who is bussing, who is walking, who is being picked up, who has got permission to go to a friend's house instead of their usual mode of transport, who is going to after school enrichment, etc.
Glad it all came to the right conclusion, Ani.

How scary! Glad everyone is now safely where they are supposed to be! It is so scary when one of your kids isn't where they are supposed to be.
I do agree with the above poster who mentioned about how it is amazing that that doesn't happen more often. My son's 4th grade class has 32 kids in it and after spending an hour there today, I am quite sure his teacher is on her way to sainthood for keeping track of that big a group!

Hey Ani!
I understand exactly how frightened you must've been. This actually happened to me with my eldest daughter. The bus driver let her on (she was in kindergarten at the time) and dropped her in a subdivision with some other kids on the other side of the school district.
A lady found my daughter wandering around the subdivision crying for me!!
It was absolutely terrifying!!
I'm glad that you're son is okay!!
How awful!!

My son was between kindergarten and 1st grade. He is special needs and on 12 month programming. He was to be dropped off at the sitters. She called and told me wasn't there yet. I called the bus company, they called the bus co. They stated they dropped him at the daycare - that he had been kicked out of! I asked them to check with the driver to confirm that he walked INTO the daycare, they had a habit of just dropping the kids off at the door. The called over the radio while I was on the phone, I could hear them. The bus driver said she dropped him off at the playground because when no one is at the daycare, they're usually at the playground. I heard the dispatcher drop the mike on the desk! They told when the driver finished the route, they'd go back for him. I screamed into the phone that someone will go for him NOW, he better fine AND TO PRAY I DON'T SUE THEM!!
