Hello foster mothers!!
I am a Master's student in the Clinical Psychology program at CSUF. I am conducting a research study for my thesis project which involves foster mothers.
I am interested in foster mothers because I was previously a foster baby who was adopted as an infant. My family consists of 10 adopted children, most of which were first foster children. Our family also cared for around 300 foster children throughout the years (in Orange County, CA).
I know that being a parent is not easy, and that there are additional unique challenges faced by parents who are caring for foster children. I believe it is important to document this and give foster mothers a voice in the literature. This will shed some light on how foster family agencies and communities can better support foster parents in their very important roles.
If you are a foster mother who has cared for a foster child within the last 6 months, and are interested in participating in my research, it will only take about 20 minutes of your time to fill out my anonymous survey online at http://www.fostermotherstudy.com. You can email me, Jennifer Bartlett, with any questions at fostermotherstudy@gmail.com or you can also contact the faculty member, Dr. Jack Mearns, who is supervising the project at jmearns@gmail.com.
Please know that I sincerely appreciate your time in this matter, and please feel free to share this information to anyone who might be interested.
Thank you,
Jennifer Bartlett

P.S. - If you are in contact with agencies or groups where foster mothers gather, I would be happy to send some flyers to you to pass out or leave where they can pick them up (ie foster parent meetings, church groups, etc.)
