My friend's son is 9 and about 60lbs. He is austistic, and that's why I have come over to this forum for your opinions!
Anyways, I remembered reading somewhere that the Britax Regent (used to be Husky) was a popular choice for older autistic children because it was a five point buckle and held children up to 100lbs. But I know my 6yr old is still in a Regent and she can easily undo her own buckle.
Is there a product or homemade solution for that? What all to you do to keep your child safe and seated in the car?
Thanks a million for your help - I look forward to the responses!!
You might take a look at the Ez-On vest. Safety Products for Family Vehicles - E-Z-ON Products, Inc. of Florida
When I went through CPS training, that was what was recommended if the Regent/Husky/Super Elite (they keep changing the name) didn't work.

I was so happy to see this thread. I am not going to have any information but just wanted to give you my support and let you know that your friend isn't in her boat alone. I currently have 4 children that refuse to leave their belts on. 3 are FASD and Sensory Processing Disorder....they don't like how the straps feel etc and 1 is RAD/ADHD. Enough said :battle: Always a battle.
what I am doing right now is that I contact our states CPS programs. They have a carseat program director and she is helping me to find the proper seats. If she gets back with any useful information I will be certain to pass it along.
