I have just started the search of my birthparents... I had decided to go thru finding the non-id info thru Catholic Charities vs. the state (Maryland) because they were the ones who had handled the adoption thinking that maybe I could get alittle something that maybe the state would not have. I had put my request in writing along w/ the form and sent back. The one request I had was the first and middle names of b-parents, as well as the name of the hospital where birth took place. Ideas I had gotten from IRSS.NET..... Now my question.... I was told that I coundnt have the first or middle names as that was identifing... Is it? Its not the whole name. Also, was informed that the name of the hospital too would be considered to be identifing and I would not get that information either?
Has anyone gotten this info from thier non-id info? :thanks:
I live in CA and don't have any knowledge of Maryland or Catholic Charities. However, I did receive my non-id from my agency a few months ago -- it truly had no identifying information. It was very non specific -- no names, no locations other than country, no dates (it gave only the ages of my bparents and their immediate relatives at the time of my birth). Every agency is different, and you may get some hints from your non-id, but mine would have been useless if I needed it to search. The non-id and my birth certificate don't list the name of the hospital where I was born, but I believe there was only one hospital in that city.
However, my non-id was useful to me because it provided a lot of background information about my bparents. I had learned earlier the names and some facts about my bparents (I was found by some cousins by my birthdate and place), but the non-id helped fill in the holes. I have a better idea of who my bparents were. (Both are deceased).
I hope your non-id is useful to you. Sorry I don't know what options you have in your state. Can you also get another version of the non-id from the state?
Good luck with your search. And be sure to submit your birth information on all the registries.
